This website is designed for use without member logins. Although logins are available, they are only granted and used by the members of the team creating the Cambridge Branch Lines route.
No private data is solicited or required from anonymous users of this website, unless an anonymous user wishes to add a Comment to an article, in which case a name and comment text are requested. This data is stored individually per comment as it appears on the site and for anonymous users is as identifiable as the writer wishes it to be.
Cookies (tiny files, normally generated by the webserver) are stored in your browser by Google Analytics, and separate ones are stored by the Cookie Control tool to remember if you accept cookies from this site.
Google Analytics is used by this website to monitor the popularity of the site and identify what sort of new content visitors might like to see. Disabling cookies will disable this monitoring, and therefore severely impair the ability of the website’s editors to provide interesting articles and images for you.
Users with authorized logins must store a login name and email address on the server. They may include other data in their website profile if they wish. Such data will be treated with respect and in particular:
- will not be given away, sold or otherwise transferred to a third party without consent, unless required to do so under the laws of the UK;
- will not be used to send emails, whether spam or otherwise, without the user’s explicit consent;
- will be deleted from the site at such time as the site or the login is closed;
- may be viewed by the administrator of the system, but only for reasonable purposes, for example for contacting the user in case of a problem, or at the user’s request;
Authorized users with logins are sent other cookies, to indicate the login session and bug database logins, and remembering the state of various login features. The website will not function correctly without these. However, again, no private data is stored: the cookies are used to record the website state (for example, whether a toolbar is collapsed) and to associate your session with your login.
If you have concerns about this policy, or wish to contact the administrator, please use the website contact form in the first instance.
