I’ve been beavering away on the Cambridge main line heading south - and the next release will include the first stop (for the route) on the ECML at Hitchin. My aim is to extend all the way to Kings Cross - using the new RSC ECML route as the bedrock. I always hoped to go down to London - but the arrival of the new route (and especially its numerous accurate bridges, buildings etc) will reduce the workload massively.
I have found a really good way to make a lofted curve+straight, where the straight needs to end at a specific place, and it works for all lofts - fences, track, roads.. The key is usually getting the curve to be of exactly the right length.
What I do now is:
Work hasn’t stopped, but releasing something this size isn’t simple…
We have both been working hard fixing various issues with track and scenery, and identifying rolling stock and other problems, and I believe the release is now imminent. Yay!
One of the changes we have agreed on is the scenario-requirement for the IKE 9F, as it is one of the major freight engines of the time, and i am now working on a scenario “Coal from Newcastle”, which features it.
Well, packaging for the Beta release of the route has started. Identification of the items we need has been completed and we have permission to include most in an asset pack, which is even better. We are learning lots about the packaging process and the aim is to release the beta soon, and probably the initial release in a month or two.
The bad news: the asset pack currently comes in at over 280 megabytes - and that doesn’t include the Freeware Packs and two other packs needed. The current list of major “packs” is:
